Mentoring through the FLUX club mentorship program and ADPList, hosting sessions like QBits, and giving emerging tech presentations at work is one of the most profound ways I give back to my community.
Sci-Fi is the best Fi.
Sci-Fi has shaped my perception of media and the world around me. I can't wait for the future that Sci-Fi authors and directors have been dreaming about for decades, so I've decided to help make it.
UX from the beginning.
I've always enjoyed finding solutions to problems using things around me. My passion for helping others, sharing cool technology, and finding effective solutions all drive me to create experiences that delight users and build the tools they love.
I've learned how to fail.
I was a straight-C student in High School, then I failed out of a computer science program. I went to community college to get my life together, but almost failed out of that too. Those experiences taught me two very important things no school can: how to fail, and what's truly important to me. I learned more about how I work, what I love, and what I'm passionate about, and because of those difficult times, I've emerged more motivated and have a stronger sense of self. Since taking first design class to graduation, I didn't earn less than a B in any class, AND since taking UX classes I had straight A's, resulting in a 3.92 GPA and the honorable distinction of Summa Cum Laude.
Technology gives me superpowers.
Since I was five years old, I've been teaching others how to harness the power of technology in their daily lives.
